I’m not a huge football fan, not least Argentine football, but when I arrived in Buenos Aires I quickly realised the importance and prevalence of Boca Juniors. The Pibe swept me off my feet and gave me a personal tour of La Boca and the Bombonera. I enjoyed it so much that we also went out to Vélez Sarfield’s José Amalfitano stadium where international games are sometimes played. The Pibe’s knowledge is phenomenal and I now know that Av. Corrientes is so called as it was once flooded in an attempt to create an artificial river through the city… Super-mega-guay.
