The Argentine National Rugby Team are victims of geography, too distant form the hubs of Western Europe and Australasia to get a consistent run of games to develop, but that makes it all the more special when the big teams come to town, you can be sure the Pumas will show up and give a show in their BA home of Vélez Sarsfield's Estadio Amalfitani in the west of the city

The Build-Up - Ask us for advice on where to do the previa (pre-match) rugby style with a big parrilla lunch. We have several recommendations, including at a steakhouse near the stadium, one of the best in the city, a hidden gem. We'll also provide info about the correct entrance gate if needed.

The match - Through the turnstiles and up the stairs - the José Amalfitani is spectacular for a neighbourhood club in Argentina. Argentines love supporting their national team and rugby is no different, a sea of sky-blue and white hoops chanting in unison willing the team on.

The Come-Down - Unlike the football, it's likely there'll be a beer available after the game in the stadium, a quick pint helps settle the adrenaline post-match.

What you need

• National Photo ID (not a copy/screenshot)
• Very casual clothing and comfortable footwear for walking/standing (dress-down!)
• Coats/jackets for the cold/rain
• You can bring your phone to take pictures
• Leave your valuables at home and travel light - no handbags, make-up, power banks, water bottles, lighters, umbrellas… these will be confiscated
• Some cash if you want to buy something extra as credit cards are not often accepted
• Your psyched-up self, it will be intense!

For others, tickets are available but can only be bought in-person, with local ID/bank cards, or through various other inventive ways of wasting your time.
