History
Founded in 1910
Vélez Sarsfield are not considered one of Argentina's traditional 'Big 5', but their record in the last ~30 years would definitely have them among that group.
They won 9 league titles between 1993 and 2013 (including the typical South American half-season titles); but undoubtedly the Carlos Bianchi era was the highlight of that spell. Known as one of the greatest managers of all time in Argentina, El Virrey (the viceroy) led Vélez to the 1994 Libertadores title, and topped it off by beating AC Milan in the Intercontinental Cup.
