Diego Armando Maradona - Arguably the world's best ever footballer, undoubtedly the most influential. El Pelusa was a hero to all Argentinians but especially to the people of his native Buenos Aires.
Join us as we visit some important sites that marked different moment's in the life of El Diez, and see the legacy he has left the city, the people and football itself.

Footballing Mecca, fútbol paradise, Buenos Aires is heaven for any fan of the beautiful game.
With 18 stadiums in the city alone and over 60 in the Greater BA area, there's no doubt why it's number one on the list for groundhoppers. The city and its football culture are intertwined with the story of Maradona.

How it works - There are two locations for the tour you can choose either one or combine them! (use the code Cancha10 for a discount of doing both).

A minimum of 3 guests is required for the tour to go ahead.

Where we’ll meet -
1) We’ll meet in the La Paternal, a residential neighbourhood & home of Argentinos Juniors where Diego's life as a professional began and where he scored more goals than anywhere else.

2) We'll meet in La Boca, the working-class port neighbourhood where thousands of European immigrants arrived to Buenos Aires, permanently shaping the city and its culture, and where Maradona shot to superstardom.

Your bilingual guides will greet you and accompany you throughout the day, keeping you safe and providing context to all the sites we'll visit, along with any necessary translation!

Itinerary/Agenda:
La Paternal (10am - 3pm)
11:00
Meet in the residential neighbourhood of La Paternal, home of Maradona's first club Argentinos Juniors. We'll visit the Casa de D10s: Dieguito's first house that was given to him by the club upon signing with them as a teenager. Step back in time and walk in the footsteps of a legend

12:00 Stroll down to the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona, the home stadium of Asociación Atlética Argentinos Juniors, where we'll take a moment at the Maradona Sanctuary which is located in the stadium walls - a quick word of thanks to the man many consider Díos (God).
The "DAM" and surrounding streets are decorated with many murals of el Diez (number 10), we'll get some photos and appreciate the best ones.

12:15 Inside the stadium we'll visit the Argentinos club museum which has a wealth of material on the Pibe de Oro (Golden Boy) himself and other famous players produced by the club known as the Semillero del Mundo (the nursery of the world). We'll get a guided tour from the club historians, supplemented by your bilingual guide.

13.15 After the guided stadium tour, we'll conclude with a walk around the block to admire the graffiti and street art, particularly the pieces dedicated to Diego.

14:00 If you want to make a day of it with the longer version, an option for lunch (not included) is the Cafetería de D10s by the stadium - a Maradona themed wonderland.
From there we'll travel (car or bus) to La Boca.

La Boca (9am-5pm)

15:30  Meeting in the famous La Boca neighbourhood where Maradona's influence is still as strong as ever - the streets lined with murals, paintings and various tributes to el más grande de todos (the greatest of them all).
Your guide will accompany you through the cobblestoned streets of La Boca with their high pavements and unmistakeable brightly coloured facades of the houses.

La Boca is the origin point of so many Porteños story in Buenos Aires, and like Diego Maradona, the heritage is interlinked with the culture and vibe of the city.
Learn about Diego's life, his importance to the Argentina people and how he represented the community - understanding Díos opens the door to understanding BA, Argentina and the unique culture here.

16:30 We'll finish up with a tour of the world-famous Bombonera stadium - getting a close-up view of the hallowed turf where Maradona shot to superstardom. It represents a full circle for Diego as he was back in early 2020 as manager of the visiting team, receiving the adoration of the Boca fans shortly before football shut down for the pandemic and he passed away later that year.
*Note the Bombonera stadium tours run with large numbers of guests and next to no explanation in English - your guide will explain the context in English you ensuring you are given all the necessary context in the Estadio Alberto J Armando

Will I be safe? - As always in a large city with great social inequality, it's important to have your wits about you and take the necessary precautions. Our experienced guides will ensure your safety and look after you. Wear casual clothing, we'll be going off the beaten track!
