Are you looking for a comprehensive tour of Buenos Aires football clubs? Then you have come to the right place. The Pibe Wagon is leaving soon, and we want you to jump onboard too.
A Pibe Wagon Argentina football tour booking is designed for football fans who want to live the sport the way locals do in the capital. Match after match, neighbourhood after neighbourhood, our specialist guides will take you on an adventure that is not to be missed as you learn about everything that makes Argentina special.

Why a Multi-Day Tour Beats a One-Day Trip
Seeing just one match in Buenos Aires is like saying you have read one chapter of a book and understand the whole story. The capital has 18 professional clubs, each with its own identity, fan culture and rituals.
Watching multiple games at different stadia will give you a broader view of the subcultures that exist in the world of fútbol argentino. You'll get to compare atmospheres between clubs like Boca Juniors, San Lorenzo, Independiente, River Plate and Racing Club, los 5 grandes, and so many more. You'll get to compare and contrast stadia, las previas before matches, the songs, and the colours and pick a favourite club once it all ends. The Pibe Wagon transforms the matchday experience into a trip of a lifetime.
Day-by-Day Snapshot: What to Expect
The schedule below is what one of our Pibe Wagon Tours can look like.
Day 1: Arrival
You'll arrive in Buenos Aires, check into your 4* accommodation, grab some porteño pizza and then head to a local match with your bilingual guide and tour group. This first evening is all about easing into the flow and rhythm of the city, and you can take in the loud and vibrant fútbol argentino.
Day 2: Ascenso or Primera Match
You'll visit a classic ground to experience matchday at Independiente's Estadio Libertadores de América or maybe take in a game at San Lorenzo to understand the incredible history that links Cuervo fans and the Boedo neighbourhood. You'll begin to experience the typical matchday with choripán y cerveza and learn more about both local and national traditions.
Day 3: La Boca & Boca Juniors
The next day, we'll head to La Boca to join the party before kick-off. With chants growing louder, your expert local guide will explain to you the history behind the club and what makes it so special. As the vendors sell food and las hinchas sing non-stop, you'll immerse yourself in the local culture and become an honorary member of La Doce by the end of the day.
Days 4-6: Midweek Football & Culture Break
These days can be flexible. Continental football comes to the country during midweek, so you'll have the opportunity to catch a match between heavyweights from across the continent travelling to Buenos Aires.
Otherwise you can take in the sights and the food of the city. Highlights include empanadas, Palermo Park, and La Reserva Ecológica, or you could take a day trip away from the city or spend the day in the countryside with some gauchos.

Day 7: Pibe Day and Workshop
As we start to get ready for another set of weekend fixtures, we'll take you on Pibe Day. We visit lower-league grounds to learn more about grassroots in the country, join a percussion workshop with local groups, have lunch at a famous parilla or try our hand at flag painting in a world-renowned artist's workshop, who has created artwork for clubs all over the world.
Day 8: Another Matchday Adventure
On Friday, we have plenty of options that deliver incredible atmospheres, such as Vélez Sarsfield, Argentinos Juniors, Defensa y Justicia or Lanús. These clubs are some of the biggest in the country and allow visitors to witness Argentinian matches in slightly smaller, but no less passionate, environments.
Day 9: Big Primera Clash
The weekend kicks off with a high-profile match at Huracán’s Tomás Adolfo Ducó or Racing Club’s El Cilindro. Both clubs are known for their raucous atmosphere, so it's the perfect way to warm up for the final match of the trip in the world-famous El Monumental.
Day 10: River at El Monumental
Everyone who is interested in football knows about River Plate, el más grande. Coming to a ground that has hosted a World Cup final is enough to make anyone excited, but seeing la hinchada in full voice while the team performs below is one of those pinch me moments – something you won't forget in a while.
Ending on a high note, the ten-day tour comes to an end, and it's time for farewells and a trip to your next destination with memories that will last a lifetime.

Can tourists buy tickets for Boca Juniors and other Buenos Aires clubs without a club membership?
Buying tickets independently as a tourist is extremely difficult. Boca Juniors has a membership waiting list of over 10 years, and tickets are distributed via lottery. Pibe de Barrio has direct relationships with the club to secure guaranteed, transferable tickets for visitors. Similar situations apply to otehr clubs.
What is included in the Pibe Wagon football trip to Buenos Aires?
The trip can be bought individually or with friends and includes 10 nights bed and breakfast in a central 4-star hotel in Buenos Aires; Airport transfers; our specially designed Pibe Day, a football themed cultural tour of Buenos Aires; Coordination and assistance from the Pibe de Barrio team for the duration of the trip; and 4 matchday experiences - Including Boca Juniors & River Plate home games. Is it safe to attend a Boca Juniors match at La Bombonera and other Buenos Aires stadiums as a foreigner?
Yes, when you go with an experienced bilingual local guide. La Boca is a working-class neighbourhood and matchday crowds can be intense. Pibe de Barrio guides know the area, the stadium protocols and the safest routes, ensuring you enjoy the atmosphere without any concerns. The same applies to the majority of football stadiums in Buenos Aires.
Where are the tickets located for each club and stadium in Buenos Aires? Are they standing or seated tickets?
Ticket location varies for each club. Pibe de Barrio chooses the best option for matchday football tickets based on the stadium experience, fan atmopshere, price, availability and safety. For most clubs and stadiums in Buenos Aires, the Pibe Wagon matchday football tickets are for the seated areas with a good view of the main hinchada (local hardcore fans). However there are some exceptions like Boca Juniors where we go to the standing section behind the goals for the true Bombonera experience, and to guarantee entry. If you have any doubts about specific teams or stadiums just send us a message.
How far in advance should I book a Pibe Wagon Argentina Football Trip?
We recommend booking as early as possible, but you can usually join a Pibe Wagon trip in Buenos Aires up to a few weeks before the travel dates. Final fixture dates, days, and times are confirmed a few weeks prior and can also change at short notice in Argentina, so waitring for the perfect schedule is not realistic. We recommend booking your flights when the master fixture list is released, this rarely encounters changes.
What happens if the Boca Juniors or another team's match is rescheduled or cancelled?
For the Pibe Wagon football trips we will prioritise Boca Juniors and River Plate home games on each weekend, and choose additional games around those plans. In the rare case there are no Boca Juniors or River Plate home games during your Pibe Wagon trip dates, we will provide an alternative of equal value. We ill contact you with the final itinerary as soon as possible once the league confirms the final match schedule. See our refund and exchange policy for more information.
What is the previa at Argentina and Buenos Aires football stadiums?
The previa is the pre-match gathering that takes place in the streets around the stadium hours before kickoff. Fans sing, eat choripan, empanadas and pizza from street vendors, wave flags and build the atmosphere. It is one of the most unique aspects of Argentine football, and your guide will walk you through it.
